October Message from the CEO – Jeremy Irvine

Expert panels on Alternate Energy, Landlords, Future of Industry and International parking trends, an engaging case study from the City of Yarra on implementing Cashless Paid Parking, and keynote speaker Steve Simpson, headline the exceptional run-down at OUTLOOK on 11 October at ICC Sydney.

It will be a fantastic day of innovation, insights, and industry leaders coming together to look to the future positively. If you’ve not done already, don’t forget to register – see you there!

Later that evening, our much-anticipated gala awards dinner will celebrate the many achievements of the people, projects, and organisations across the industry. Congratulations to all this year’s finalists on your impressive achievements. Well-known media personality Libbi Gorr is our MC; tickets for the awards are in demand going fast – don’t miss out.

Thank you to our valued OUTLOOK and Awards Dinner sponsors and partners including First Parking (OUTLOOK Major Sponsor and Outstanding Sustainable Car Park award category sponsor), SKIDATA (Major Sponsor Parking Industry Awards Dinner) and sponsors and partners ColleaguesNagels, Designa, Nationwide Parking, Optimise Energy, Orikan, UbiPark, and Wilson Parking.

Our appreciation too to the many speakers who are joining us – we are grateful for your insights and expert reflections.

The range of organisations at OUTLOOK and in the awards highlight the breadth, depth, and diversity of members and stakeholders, and who are willing to share their time and interests with their colleagues and peers.

Our panellists, for example, at our August Brisbane event Brett Cohen, Serena Mullins, and Paul Laws, brought this point out brilliantly in their well-received discussion which was adeptly moderated by Pete Tarrant. Thank you to all who attended, to International Property Group for their sponsorship, and to QUT for hosting us at their beautiful Gardens Point campus.

ENGAGEMENT

  • Members are invited to join us on 18 October online for a briefing on the potential new changes to AS/NZS 2890.1 off-street car parking. The session will be led by Parking Australia’s representative on the relevant Standards Australia committee, Andrew Morse of ptc. Andrew will brief members on the discussions by the committee, and key proposed changes to the standard (last revised in 2004) including length of standard car park, and new sections on car stackers and lifts, and vehicle control points.

In addition to our ongoing and behind the scenes work with government, relevant associations, and key stakeholders, some areas of our engagement since our last edition have included, for example:

  • City of Melbourne Future Streets Framework 2030 and Beyond – consultations opened 2 August and close 11 October. We are engaging with the City of Melbourne on this including a well-attended member forum on 11 September. As always, if you’ve ideas or feedback on the Framework please drop us a line.

  • Parking on private land matter (Queensland) – extensive discussions with members and key stakeholders underpinned our response to the consultations. Parking Australia’s approach reflected member feedback with a focus on customers, considering matters from a broad policy perspective, and a commitment to constructive ongoing dialogue with government. Thank you to the many members who provided feedback.

  • Feedback on engagement on EV charging infrastructure with several local councils.
