Smart Parking Goes Live in Livingstone Shire
In the interest of providing a positive parking experience for residents and visitors to Livingstone Shire, Smart Parking have recently worked with Livingstone Shire Council to complete the installation of over 300 vehicle detection sensors in the town’s centre and the area surrounding Yeppoon Lagoon.
After a great deal of planning, the Council – working with Smart Parking – came up with a strategy where the centrally located parking bays would better serve the community on a free-to-park limited time basis, meaning local businesses would be able to take advantage of a higher turnover of people. The parking area surrounding Yeppoon Lagoon would cater for those wishing to park for longer, with these bays set up to allow for unlimited time parking, with paid parking during peak times of 8.30am-5pm Monday to Friday.
Our SmartPark system is ideally suited to these individual requirements, and both sets of sensors are linked up to our SmartCloud platform which provides visibility around trends, and peak usage, as well as reporting and data insights that the Council can use for information-driven future planning decisions.
SmartCloud also feeds overstay information to parking warden handheld devices, greatly improving efficiency and accuracy by alerting officers in real-time about a possible expiation, and giving them directions and information so they can undertake a manual check to see if someone has overstayed or not.
As well, SmartCloud feeds individual bay occupancy status through to the customised parking app, called Capricorn Coast Smart Parking. This app is free for people to download from either the Apple or Google Play stores, and its features include providing information around parking availability, special bay types (such as mobility, loading zones, paid zone etc) navigation, parking tariffs and parking conditions. In the paid parking zone, it also allows people to pay via the app, and receive notifications when their parking is about to expire, allowing them to remotely top up their parking without having to return to their car.
The paid parking zone also has multiple Pay & Display machines for people wishing to use a more traditional method of paying for their parking, and these are also linked to the SmartPark system and platform.
Smart Parking’s marketing team also produced an animated video for Livingstone Shire to share across their digital platforms to help inform locals and visitors about the parking initiative and how they can use the Capricorn Coast Smart Parking app.
“Smart Parking is delighted to launch another joint project with Telstra, and are pleased to be able to provide a positive parking experience to the people living in and visiting Livingstone Shire”, said Ben Williams, Smart Parking’s General Manager Sales (Australia).
