Commercial Tenancy Code of Conduct
The Commercial Tenancy Code of Conduct developed by the Federal Government and the National Cabinet is implemented by state governments with legislation developed and passed by them. To this point, Parking Australia has had some success in lobbying the NSW Government to amend the code allowing for greater flexibility, which may include tenancy relief for car park operators.
Other states look set to implement the code without amendment but are yet to develop and/or release the legislation for consideration or comment.
Parking Australia has communicated our disappoint to the Federal Treasurer’s office and the Coronavirus Business Liaison Unit about the Code’s model and that it does not take into consideration the unique revenue models, by which car parks operate with their landlords.
