April 2024 Message from the CEO – Jeremy Irvine
I trust this finds you well and that you had a relaxing Easter break.
Park, Lunch and Learn
First up, we’re pleased to announce a new Parking Australia event, to be held in Sydney on Wednesday 1 May from 12.00pm – 2.00pm at The Michael Crouch Innovation Centre, Hilmer building UNSW Kensington Campus – Park, Lunch and Learn: EV Charging – Council Case Studies. Thank you to the University of NSW for hosting us.
As part of our ongoing commitment to the wider Parking Australia network, we’ve had significant interest in councils learning from other councils about their different EV charging strategies, key considerations, challenges, and implementation.
We’ve engaged an informative panel of three councils (City of Sydney, Northern Beaches Council, and Waverley, Woollahra, and Randwick) with very different EV charging strategies as case studies to demonstrate how they went about deploying EV charging in each of their localities.
In addition, we’ll have a small selection of EV charging infrastructure suppliers also attending to explain a little about their solutions, product features, benefits and installation questions. The event will then conclude with a light lunch and networking.
We welcome interest from firms who’d like to participate either with a brief case study or as the event sponsor via this expression of interest form. EOIs will close at 3pm Wednesday 10 April, and we’ll then finalise, noting all must be Parking Australia members at the time of the event.
While the subject matter is primarily for a local government/council audience (we have already actively engaged with 24 councils in New South Wales), the event is open to all staff of any current Parking Australia member at no cost; if you’re employed at a council who’s not a Parking Australia member, please contact us at paa@parking.asn.au and we will register you for free (in this instance). Members please register here.
Coming up
Melbourne, 28 May. Topic: What’s coming down the road – evolution (or revolution) in parking and mobility technology.
Perth, 19 June. Member roundtable.
Adelaide, 28 August. Topic: Driving excellence in customer service – lessons learned from paths well-travelled.
Hobart, 18 September. Member roundtable.
Sydney 27 November: Topic: The big picture – where does parking fit in the broader policy and planning landscape?
If you’re interested in being either a speaker or sponsor (Venue, Major Event, or Networking Session) please pop us a line. All speaker proposals based on the topics above are welcomed, noting with panels of three-four people we cannot facilitate everyone’s requests to speak but will keep people’s offers on file for future events. Sponsorship packages are bespoke and developed in collaboration with the firms and are based on a range of factors including for example links to the topic, relevance to the audience/market, and ongoing engagement with members.
Speaker and sponsor interest can be provided to Parking Australia (paa@parking.asn.au) by the following dates: Melbourne 28/5, and Perth 19/6 events: EOIs close Monday 22 April, with Adelaide (28/8); Hobart (18/9); and Sydney (27/11) all closing Monday 1 July.
Women in Parking recap
Thank you to our panel members and moderator, sponsors, and the 70 colleagues who attended our Brisbane event in late February. It was great to hear Cassandra, Nikki, Tabitha, and Yolanda’s thoughts, and to see so many people from the parking community join us.
Photos from the day on our Facebook page; the video and reflections from the day under ‘Resources’ for members.
Intertraffic
Thanks to the members who have advised they’ll be at Intertraffic from 16-19 April including on stands (for example Park Agility on stand 03.326 and EasyPark on stand 12.301). The programme is available here. If you’re in Amsterdam, please feel free to catch up with colleagues and pop Parking Australia a mention on LinkedIn.
ITS Australia’s Roads, Tolling & Technology 2024
Parking Australia Director, Daniel Hitchcock, and I were speakers at the recent ITS event in Brisbane, where we provided an update on parking insights and innovations. It was great to connect with colleagues in the wider transport sector with an impressive suite of topics, delivered positively and thoughtfully.
Thank you to our members
A reminder too of all the great benefits to Parking Australia members including the unlimited number of staff we invite from each member firm to join us at our networking events, for example. You can also pop your news, events, and jobs across and we will add to the Parking Australia website.
We also thank our many renewing members, welcome our latest colleagues – and reminder, if you’re not a member, and would like to join us, please contact us or join online here.
