October marked National Cyber Security Awareness month in the US and as a result a range of materials have been released to increase awareness and educate the public and private sectors concerning the risks of theft, fraud, and abuse through cyber interfaces.

IT pros often consider an organisation’s employees the weakest link when it comes to IT security, because they are the ones who handle sensitive data and have the means to digitally invite in unscrupulous outsiders. Trustwave have outlined the seven deadly IT security sins of uneducated employees to put us all on our watchguard. Their statistics show, for example, that 60 per cent of us are happy to plug random USB devices into our computers without considering the threat of viruses.
