Learning Lab on Tour – Sydney Olympic Park
29 May 2018, 10am – 5pm
Join Parking Australia for a fascinating look at the mobility, parking and urban design challenges facing Sydney’s busiest and most prolific major events, accommodation, transport and residential precinct. Hear from Sydney Olympic Park, Mosman Council & the NRMA.
From 100,000 people at Ed Sheeran and other simultaneous events on one night, to then a sleepy hollow the next. We will hear about the traffic and parking challenges that block-buster crowds and high-rise residential development brings in competing environments. And hostile vehicle mitigation – another challenge.
Managing the Logistics, Parking and Transport Challenges of the Precinct
The day includes a presentation from Sydney Olympic Park management on the trials and tribulations of managing the precinct plus a guided coach tour of the 430 hectares of parkland, 7 sporting venues and the hustle and bustle of managing residential development and commuter transport.
Mosman Council – Innovative Parking in a Council Environment
After lunch hear from 2016 Excellence in Technology & Innovation Finalist – Mosman Council, on their innovative approach to parking through the adoption of smart city technology. In 2016 Mosman Council installed more than 1000 SmartEye sensors with real-time data fed into a parking guidance app for customers. Overhead guidance was also installed into three of Mosman’s multistorey car parks to aid motorists. The new technology provides intelligent data to parking management software for informed decision-making on Mosman’s future parking policy.
NRMA – Vehicle Mobility into The Future
Amongst other highlights, the day will also include a demonstration by NRMA of Divvy Parking – plus a presentation on the future of mobility. NRMA will provide a demonstration of their EV charger and we’ll take a closer look at the Navya Autonomous Shuttle which is currently being trialled at Olympic Park and is planned to operate as a shuttle service around the precinct.
