Changing motorists parking behaviour
The presentation explores the City of Melbourne’s introduction of digital payment in the 2014, followed by open data and way-finding, and how deterrence and convenience have different functions. Efforts focussed on one area only may be misplaced, however when deployed together they have a synergistic effect on behaviour. Since the introduction of pay by app technology, parking payment compliance has improved by over 150% in line with app uptake.
The speakers will look at how the data derived from the technology has been used to inform parking policy and the benefits experienced by the city, such as a meter rationalisation, reduced congestion and traffic flow benefits.
