Parking Immediacy – Greg Briscoe-Hough
Parking has a basic storage purpose, but increasingly emphasis on the experience sees commercial, civic and cultural players competing for car occupants to engage beyond a single activity. To create a new vision of how parking services town centres, this presentation will identify alternatives to ‘on-the-spot’ immediacy and engage drivers with a wider experience of the public domain.
In this presentation, a series of town centres of different size and their parking assets will be assessed against past, present and future practices and both the planned as well as potential scenarios that could be expected to arise with urban renewal, commercial vitality, public transit and social participation goals,
yet maintaining parking as an element in creating and sustaining centres, old or new.
