Self-driving vehicles will also help improve road safety, reduce emissions, and ease congestion. On that note Parking Australia is pleased to announce its partnership with the Australian Driverless Vehicle Initiative.The initiative will explore the impacts and requirements of self-driving vehicles in Australia and make recommendations on ways to safely and successfully introduce them.
ARRB Group together with corporate, government and academic partners launched the Australian Driverless Vehicle Initiative (ADVI) to build momentum to rapidly explore the impacts and requirements of automated and connected vehicle technology in a truly Australian context.
The ADVI will raise public awareness through demonstrations and simulated and in-field investigation trials involving government, industry, research entities and the media. The intention is to provide an avenue to showcase the involvement and contributions of collaborating partners involved in this important initiative.
The key objectives of the initiative are:
- To build momentum by rapidly exploring the impacts and requirements of driverless vehicles in a truly Australian context;
- To coordinate the multiple activities of a range of contributors in this space including government, industry and academia;
