New Sustainability Category for 2021 Parking Awards
In light of Parking Australia’s EV and solar car park webinar earlier this year and the push for more environmentally friendly buildings, Parking Australia has decided to introduce the Outstanding Sustainable Car Park category to the 2021 Parking Industry Awards.
Whether it be a new car park or an old one, there is so much that can be done and is being done, to improve the efficiency of these facilities. It may be the installation of solar PV or electric vehicle charging stations. Alternatively, initiatives such as the replacement of lighting or parking guidance systems to be more energy efficient, would also be covered by the award.
The criteria does not preclude any sustainable initiative or innovation but does focus on the environmental and financial benefits, as well as the improved outcomes for the customer and/or motorist and the implementation of best practice systems and standards.
It also opens up the possibility of car park owners and operators making a joint submission, as they may have worked jointly on the project. In addition to this, suppliers may also want to promote their projects in conjunction with their clients who may be a shopping centre, university, hospital, council or sporting/entertainment facility.
The Outstanding Sustainable Car Park Award is replacing the Outstanding New Car Park Development Award, as Parking Australia believes that all new car parks should be built with the environment in mind.
The 2021 Parking Industry Awards will soon be open for submissions with the winners to be announced at the Awards gala dinner on Monday 23 August at the Adelaide Convention Centre (Monday night of PACE 2021).
We look forward to your submissions and if you have any questions, please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
