Looking Towards 2021

Peter Drucker, the famous Austrian-born American management consultant, once said, “The only thing we know about the future is that it will be different”. Given what 2020 has been like for much of the parking industry, let us hope that the future is different and in a positive way.

It would be a significant understatement to say that 2020 has been a difficult year for many in the industry. While the latest COVID outbreak in Sydney has reminded us that the virus is still with us, it is also pleasing to see that the NSW Government have the capability to get on top of it quickly.

With this in mind, I am confident that Parking Australia will be able to hold in-person events in 2021 starting with a networking event in Melbourne on Tuesday 16 February. At this event we hope to have a representative from the Victorian Government to discuss electronic parking permits and a representative from the Property Council to present statistics and forecasts of office occupancy.

We are very much looking forward to PACE 2021 to be held on 23-25 May in Adelaide. Exhibition and sponsorship opportunities have been sent to those who exhibited and sponsored at PACE 2018. Early in January we will open-up these opportunities for members and following that, opportunities will be opened to the wider industry.

I trust that you have a wonderful Christmas wherever you are in the country and get to have some downtime as we prepare for a big 2021.

The Parking Australia Office will close today and reopen on 4 January.

Merry Christmas

Stuart Norman
