Looking towards a better year in 2022
By Stuart Norman, Parking Australia CEO
With 2021 now drawing to a close, on behalf of Parking Australia I’d like to wish you a very merry Christmas and a great new year. It is my view that the parking industry can look forward to a much better 2022, given the commitments from the states to open and stay open. In addition to that, the country’s vaccination rate is close to 90% of people over the age of 16, having received two jabs.
It’s also becoming evident that many businesses are planning to have their staff back in city offices from the start of 2022. This is a good sign for the parking industry, as this is the sizable part of the market that has been missing in some cities since the end of March 2020.
I’m confident that PACE is ideally scheduled in early May, for people to be able to attend from all around the country. Can I encourage you, if you have not already registered, to attend or exhibit and take advantage of the current member and early bird offers.
Farewell to Steph Busby
Steph Busby, who has been looking after Parking Australia’s marketing and communications for more than eight years, has resigned to accept a full-time role at the University of Sydney. For the last three years Parking Australia has had a settled team, of which Steph has been an integral part. We wish Steph well in her new role, as we look to replace her in early 2022.
AGM
Parking Australia held its Annual General Meeting on 1 December 2021. At the AGM we announced the results of the election for three positions on the Parking Australia Board of Directors. Mosstyn Howell was re-elected, with Angelique Mentis and Daniel Hitchcock joining the board for a three-year term.
Double vaxxed for PACE 2022
Parking Australia has been informed by the Adelaide Convention Centre that all events at the venue will only allow double vaccinated people to attend. This requirement is no surprise given that similar rules have been mandated in both New South Wales and Victoria.
Proof of vaccination with be required upon entry. Parking Australia will not be asking for, or recording, people’s vaccination status but we will be informing people upon registration that this is a requirement of the venue.
