Parking as a hub for mobility service
How real-time information, convenient access & payment methods embedded into parking, automobile & navigation solutions can help to accelerate the parking event and incentivize different end-user groups to use a mix of mobility services. The car is still the preferred means of transportation in everyday life; almost every journey starts and ends at home with the car. However, due to the impact of urbanisation with increased population and higher traffic volumes as the main consequences, citizen can more and more chose from a mix of mobility services to complement individual transportation. The better parking is embedded into the so-called mobility chain, the more attractive it becomes for the end-user to switch to other modes of transportation. The car park of tomorrow will be a hub for a variety of mobility services: be it P&R, car sharing, bicycle parking, bicycle rentals or charging of vehicles.
