Parking Australia has announced the first Keynote Speaker for the 2017 OUTLOOK conference, which takes place from 18-19 September at Sydney’s Star Casino.
Tané Hunter is part of a global movement of scientists, technologists, hackers and creatives using their diverse knowledge to provide unexpected perspectives on the world, through the lenses of science, technology and social theory, with the goal of fostering intelligent, optimistic thinking about the future, and empowering people to contribute to it.
Tané is a science communicator, futurist and bioinformatician who works with big data in the biological realm. He is the co-founder of Future Crunch and Lighthouse Data Science. His interest in medical genomics, big data, and evolutionary biology eventually led him to the University of Melbourne where he completed a Masters in Bioinformatics in 2013.
He has worked for the Royal Children’s Hospital diagnosing rare genetic diseases in children and is currently completing his PhD at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, using molecular biomarkers and artificial intelligence to better understand, diagnose and improve treatment for people suffering from cancer.
Tané will present the Future Crunch of Disruption on Monday 18 September.
Technology, which used to be thought of as a sector on its own, or a business function to be outsourced, is now a strategic layer across all aspects of organisation. As a result disruption is happening in every sector of the economy. Global connectivity, digitisation, artificial intelligence, intuitive computing, additive manufacturing, gene editing and brain machine interfacing are changing the way we live, work and play.
Understanding what’s over the horizon is essential for any organisation wishing to harness the opportunities of a rapidly changing global economy in the 21st century.
Audiences will come away from this talk with the ability to think clearly and critically about the way technological disruption is changing the economy, a skill that’s particularly relevant for leaders who wish to turn technology to their strategic advantage — and protect their organisations against competitors who wish to do the same.
