Craig Ion – Coordinator Parking & Local Laws, Maribyrnong City Council
The parking industry in the past 10 years has seen many significant advances in innovation and technologies. An advancement I have been involved in was the expansion and adoption of in-ground sensors technologies being adopted into mainstream enforcement use. What I can deliver as a Director, is being part of the next chapter in the Parking industry. Where and what is the next direction we are heading into.
As a board member, I would take the responsibly to find and promote these types of innovations and ideas as well as being a voice to those members with concerning matters. I honestly believe that I can be an asset to Parking Australia. Not only with my experience and knowledge in this industry. A total commitment that I can give and ensure that more Councils and organisations join Parking Australia.
I would be a committed board member and look forward to attending board meetings in and outside of hours and look forward to attending future local and interstate seminars as well and being a voice and ear to members and relaying their input and concerns.
My goal as a board member would be to ensure the ongoing pursuit and promotion for the advancements new technologies and innovations within the industry.
Gary Byrne – Commercial Director, Park Aid
My parking industry experience spans across 23 years, encompassing a number of Parking Operation and Technology roles. My most recent Senior Management technology roles as either Head of Sales, or my current Commercial Director position at Park Aid have given me great exposure across many all verticals and customer levels.
The international product, vendor and industry contacts I have made over this journey afford me the opportunity to compare the nature of the market in other regions and bring this information back to the Australian industry.
I am hopeful that this industry experience, combined with my experience as a current member of the Board of Directors, put me in a position to continue as a strong contributing member.
Giovanni Laudicina – Chief Executive Officer, Duncan Solutions
I would be extremely excited to join the Board of Parking Australia, and I truly believe I will be a valuable member of the team, as I did at Aipark: I loved my time as a director there and apparently this feeling was reciprocal, as I was re-elected for another mandate.
I think that parking industry is facing many transformations and it is subject to contrasting forces: it is the 2nd revenue stream for Councils, but it is perceived as a vexation by many motorists, it has a huge impact on traffic and pollutions, but many cities are planning a reduction of the available spaces, creating additional competition between drivers.
At the same time, new competitors are on the rise for the use of the parking areas: mobility services like Uber, deliveries, Electric vehicles are all part of the new frontier of “curbside management”, which is disrupting the parking environment, together with all the camera-based technologies for occupancy and enforcement, and the increasing importance of data, with all the implications in terms of security.
I would like to help the Australian parking industry to elevate itself to a leading position in the global landscape, particularly from a technological standpoint.
The AICD Company Directors Course has strengthened my knowledge of the role, duties, and responsibilities of a director, in particular the fiduciary duties that I would owe to Parking Australia, to act in the best interests of the Association and not of Duncan Solutions, to prevent insolvent trading, and to act with care and diligence.
Joe Larosa – Director – Country Manager Australia, Skidata
